Redefining the Industrial Landscape: Southeast Toyota’s New Home at JAXPORT

kasper architects is thrilled to announce the completion of the new Southeast Toyota (SET) Distributors Vehicle Processing Center at JAXPORT’s Blount Island. This $145 million project represents more than just a move from Talleyrand; it’s a massive leap forward in how we think about industrial architecture and the future of the automotive industry in the Southeast.

A Partnership Built on Decades of Trust

Our relationship with Southeast Toyota Distributors spans 25 years, a partnership that began in the early 2000s under our founder, Erik Kasper. Over the last two decades, we’ve collaborated on over a dozen buildings, but the Blount Island project is a true culmination of that shared history.

Working alongside JE Dunn, we spent more than three years guiding this design from early planning to the final walkthrough. When you have a partnership this deep, the design process becomes about more than just square footage—it’s about understanding a client’s DNA and building a space that grows with them.

Efficiency Meets the Associate Experience

Spanning over 380,000 square feet across 88 acres, the facility is designed to process nearly 4,000 vehicles per week. However, the true heart of the project is the 272,000-square-foot Accessory Installation Building.

While industrial facilities are often purely functional, we worked closely with SET to ensure this was a "people-centered" design. By incorporating associate input, we included amenities that prioritize the daily experience of the team on the ground, such as:

  • A full-service kitchen and cafeteria

  • A modern fitness center and locker rooms

  • An Operations Support and Training Center designed for long-term career growth.

Future-Proofing for "Beyond Zero"

Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for this project; it’s a functional requirement. As Toyota continues its "Beyond Zero" electrification initiative, the Blount Island facility is already prepared. We integrated electric vehicle charging stations and specialized infrastructure to ensure that as the automotive landscape shifts toward EVs, this facility is ready to lead that charge from day one.

An Economic Engine for Jacksonville

This is the largest investment in Southeast Toyota Distributors' history, and its impact on our home city of Jacksonville cannot be overstated. By modernizing operations and increasing capacity by 6%, this center strengthens JAXPORT’s position as a national leader in vehicle handling while supporting hundreds of local jobs.

We are incredibly proud to have played a role in this landmark project. It stands as a testament to what happens when vision, craftsmanship, and a long-standing partnership come together to build something that moves an entire industry forward.
